Lewis and Ian left for work early, giving me time to organize how I was going to get to Golden Gate Park, the venue for the Outside Lands festival. I managed to get there fine but then ended up waiting in line for about 20 minutes which made me miss the first half of Autolux, one of my 'must see' bands. What I saw was amazing though, they played a few new tracks which sound great. I won't go on about all the bands I saw, lots I was hearing for the first time.
Pretty much the main reason I went to this festival was for The National, I've wanted to see them again since last time at Sasquatch and it was spectacular. The singer was obviously in some kind of mood so he stomped around the stage and screamed and yelled and kicked over mic-stands... in a good way, he was obviously enjoying himself. I called Carolyn during the last song and gave her a bit of live National that she's been pining for for months. It's expensive though so I could only give her so much. After I hung up I cried a bit because I missed her and I hated being alone. I'm making it sound worse than it was though, I had a really really great time. Pearl Jam closed out the show and I was really really glad to see them, even though I've never really been hugely into them, they do have some amazing songs. I cried again when they played 'Black', I'm such a wuss.
