Preventative Measures

I think it's a good idea I'm getting out of this town before I become too comfortable and any more random stuff happens to me.

Enjoy the photos, my one of the Tina Turner's son ad is probably my favorite. There are loads of ads on lightposts like that. This is a crazy town.

I'll post a 'retrospective' tomorrow because I'll be able to collect my thoughts better in writing than when you see me in person and I tell you that L.A is 'crazy'.

XO.

Hollywood

Hello,

I have found a place to stay in Hollywood through a friend of a friend in San Francisco. He's a really great guy and I really feel like I've landed on my feet staying here. I spent the night commiserating with the Germans, one of whom was supposed to be my +1 for the Wiltern show. It has been rescheduled for the 10th though and she can't make it, she's flying out tonight. As ever in the land of the free, one's loss is another's gain and so I have managed to trade my extra ticket for a ticket to tomorrow's show. So that makes three out of the four shows, how great.

To add to the rather serendipitous nature of the last couple days, the place I'm staying at is a good 15 minutes walk to the venue NIN is playing at tomorrow, which is great. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more good pictures of people with signs and the general hysteria.

Even Carolyn seems to have stopped e-mailing me so I'm somewhat suspicious that no one is reading this. If you are let me know and I'll keep posting. If not I'll stop making an ass of myself writing a 'blog' no one reads.

Arran

Pasadena

This morning on the train platform an elderly woman in purple pajamas and a multi-coloured side bag appeared at my side. Without so much as a 'hello' she grabbed my arm, turning me towards her.

"When I was young" she said, "they used to say 'You people can have your laws, all I want is the music'.

I was so surprised, all I could do what mumble something incoherent and nod my head in a dubious way.

"My son was about your age when..." her voice broke and it took her some time to recover. "He made such beautiful music, if I had known he made such beautiful music I would have..."

Again her voice broke. She then released her grip on my arm, instead taking both my hands in hers.

"God bless you, and God bless the music makers!" she pronounced before releasing my hands and hobbling down the platform.

It took me a couple moments to take in what the woman had just said to me and to sort out exactly what she had said and meant with her words. I then realized that the moment before she had appeared at my side I had been deep in thought concerning whether I was going to stay in town for the rest of the shows or not. Responsibility calls and it doesn't seem concerned about long distance minutes. I was thinking about how quickly I'm running out of money, how I don't have anywhere to stay in the long term and how I'm emotionally and physically exhausted. Then, Grandma Death walks up to me out of the blue and tells me essentially 'fuck responsibility, music is all that matters'. How fucking random.

I'm sure she was prompted by the guitar at my side but still, random.

XO,

Arran

P.S I picked up what she was layin' down. I changed my ticket and now arrive on the 12th sometime.
